Formate Overview
Formate
is probably the most flexible and cost effective output management
solution on the market today. Originally designed to offer
a lower cost alternative to some of the leading products at
that time (JetForm®, CreateForm®, StreamServe®
etc.), Formate now offers virtually the same functionality
at 50% of the price!

Formate
addresses the majority of user printing needs (printing
with forms overlay and data mapping) with the ability to provide
emailing, faxing, PDFs, MS Word documents, Excel workbooks, XML files, HTML web pages
or output to a document archiving system (Formate creates PDF documents and a metadata
file for this purpose).

Formate
was designed to provide a simple but flexible document formatting
tool and has certainly achieved this. Many products provide
too much functionality and their price reflects this. Others
are licensed by the number of printers (or input/output queues)
or by host processor, and may prove expensive as the product
grows throughout an organisation. Most versions of Formate are
sold with a site license which allows you to install as many
copies of the programs on your site as you wish, and it has no
limitations on the number of files processed, printers used, etc.
Another major pitfall of some
products is the ongoing maintenance cost, coupled with high
training/consultancy cost overhead. Formate does not fall foul
of any of these criteria.
